Effective date: August 4, 2026
This policy applies to the COGUA Kokomo mobile application, operated by The Church of God of the Union Assembly for the Kokomo church. It does not replace the policies for other COGUA websites or applications.
Information available without an account
You may view public Kokomo church information, announcements, and events without creating an account. The app may save a limited offline copy of this public information on your device.
Information we collect
- Account and profile information: name, email address, optional phone number, password in protected hashed form, membership approval status, Kokomo church association, directory-visibility choice, and an optional profile image.
- Member activity: app session records, notification preferences, and records showing whether an available member message has been read.
- Device and notification information: an app installation identifier, device name/model, operating-system and app versions, notification environment, and an Apple or Android push token when notifications are enabled.
- Operational information: ordinary server and security logs used to deliver the service, diagnose failures, prevent abuse, and protect accounts.
Do not submit confidential pastoral, medical, financial, or emergency information through profile or support fields.
How we use information
We use information to authenticate members, review Kokomo membership requests, provide approved member messages and directory features, maintain profiles and preferences, deliver requested notifications, provide support, secure the service, and comply with legal obligations.
Sharing and tracking
We do not sell personal information. The app does not contain third-party advertising and does not use information for cross-app advertising tracking. Information may be processed by service providers that help us operate hosting, email, and platform notification delivery, including Apple Push Notification service when enabled. We may disclose information when required by law or reasonably necessary to protect users, the church, or the service.
Security and retention
The app uses HTTPS for server communication and stores its session token in the iOS Keychain on Apple devices. Server access is limited according to authorized roles. No system can guarantee absolute security. We retain information while an account is active and as reasonably necessary for operations, security, legal compliance, dispute resolution, and backup recovery, then delete or de-identify it when no longer needed.
Your choices
- Use public app features without creating an account.
- Change notification permission in device settings and notification preferences in the app.
- Update profile information and directory visibility from the Account screen.
- Delete your account from the Account screen. This revokes app sessions and removes the account data handled by the deletion process, subject to limited records that must be retained for security or legal reasons.
- Contact us to request access, correction, or help with deletion.
Children and family accounts
The app serves a church community that may include families. A parent or legal guardian who believes a child submitted personal information without appropriate permission should contact us so the request can be reviewed and the information removed where required.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy when app features or data practices change. The effective date above will be revised when material changes are published.
